In 1927, a demand for ethical practices, combined with a desire to raise the knowledge and status of hotel executives, led to the formation of the first International Conference on Hotel Business Promotion, held on September 24th in Chicago.
Over the years, through booms and busts, wars and technological advances, the association, which is known today as the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, continues to strive to elevate the profession and to help its members to improve their skills and advance their careers. With a strong focus on education, HSMAI has become the industry champion, identifying and communicating trends in the hospitality industry. HSMAI is proud to be a leading voice for hospitality, sales, marketing, and revenue management disciplines. This thriving global organization ultimately fuels success by connecting its members with their target audience, while helping them cultivate loyal customers.
The Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI (formerly the “Big Apple” chapter) was founded in 1937 and is now one of over 40 HSMAI chapters in the United States. We have consistently maintained Platinum status among the distinguished chapters that make up HSMAI Americas. The HSMAI Greater New York Chapter has been the recipient of the Chapter of the Year award four times at the HSMAI Mike Leven Leadership Conference.
Our first-rate leadership team maintains our status of excellence by striving to remain current with the latest information and innovative techniques. Our organization of hospitality professionals continues to thrive and excel due to our years of experience, and a simple love of the job.
